Sharing Kindness...One Tag at a Time

No big surprise here – Kindness is my jam

Every year I am invited to one of my local elementary schools to share some art and spread some kindness via my #soulpositivefinds program.

Soul Positive Finds is a program I created a few years ago.  Plain shipping tags are used as the “canvas”.  I decorate them with paint, stitching, art marks and positive messages and then leave them out in my community for people to find.  Initially I left them in library books when I returned them.  A sweet little gift for the person who borrows that book next.

What began as a small, random act of kindness by one person has grown into a tiny kindness movement.  Many of my creative friends from around the country (and even a few internationally) have hopped on board and leave their altered tags in their communities for people to find as well.

Every year I am lucky enough to be invited by the Advisor of the Early Act Club at my local elementary school to come and teach the children how to make kindness tags.  The Early Act Club is a part of Rotary international, a service organization.  We share stories of kindness.  We speak of ways to make our community better.  We discuss how someone might feel finding one of these tags.  The kids get messy with paint.  They make a tag to keep for themselves and one to give away.

This day is truly one of my very favorite days of the year.  The children amaze me with their creativity.  They have such big hearts and are so happy and open to share the importance of being kind to one another.
